Anahita al-Salaam has lived in the shadow of her father for her entire life. By the time she was born, Turgut had already made such a name for himself as a scholar that he was gifted the moniker of al-Salaam by the Immortal Caliph. She grew up working with her father and learned much from him, and as his only child was lavished with everything she could desire. This left her ultimately somewhat awkward at social interactions, though her father assumed she would one day grow out of it. Anahita was also cursed in another way, seemingly constantly unlucky in her affairs and, worse, suffering from a rare affliction known as Lord Moon's Curse. Despite her afflictions, through hard work and perseverance she has risen from a mere assistant in the Dahabi Merchant House-overseen Watermen's Guild to the Councilor of Grain.
Anahita, as her promotions increased and her chance for independent projects grew, began to see a larger pattern to the food supplies and water rationing in the city. Taking her work to her father the two of them spent a decade working on a practicable theory before his death. The work was not completed but Anahita has continued to toil away endlessly and for what she had completed was granted the position of Councillor of Grain. She hopes one day to finish her work, cementing her position as her father's daughter and perhaps fixing food shortages permanently.
